Homemade Stromboli

This is probably one of my favorite recipes.. I have made a lot of tweaks to the original recipe (as down to what brand of cheese to buy!)... and now I think it's just perfect! So it's time to share!

Homemade Stromboli

Ingredients:
1 tube of French loaf
about 1/2lb deli honey ham, sliced for sandwiches
1 pk Kraft mozzarella cheese slices
1 bag pepperoni
Any veggies you prefer
Pizza sauce of your choice

  • Unroll the french loaf on a clean surface (this can be very difficult.. some tubes are tricky, it takes patience! if you get a few little tears, it'll be fine, just try work the dough together
  • Place cheese all over dough except 1/2 inch of the edge
  • Place pepperoni all over cheese
  • Add any veggies you prefer (we usually don't use any.. just meat and cheese!)
  • Place ham over top of the cheese.. i usually do 2 layers of ham especially if it's really thin sliced
  • Fold the sides in (do not fold over tightly against the meat or else the loaf will tear
  • Fold the the edge farthest away from you in
  • Roll the loaf away from you (about 2 inches wide.. it usually takes 2 flips, depending on how big you managed to stretch your loaf!)
  • Place onto greased baking sheet. Mine is usually too long and ends up sitting on each end of the sheet
  • Use a sharp knife and cut several deep slits on top of the loaf (about an inch and a half long... about 2 inches between each slit)
  • Bake at 350 for 26-30 minutes or until golden brown
  • Remove, cool, and cut into 4 sections
  • Serve with warm pizza sauce
Serves: 2
